"A suicide bomber riding explosive-laden car blew it up next to the convoy of foreign troops killing himself on the spot and injured three passers, all civilians," Kabul police chief, Abdul Rahman Rahimi told reporters at the site of the blast.
There was no casualty on foreign forces, he stressed.
The bloody bombing, which is the fourth of its kind in Kabul city over the past one week, has caused panic among Kabul residents, calling upon government to protect the lives and properties of civilians.
"Whenever, I come out of my home, I am not sure if I can go back alive. The continued militancy has killed our hope for future and my demand from the government is to take necessary measures to check subversive activities," a Kabul resident Mohammad Haroon told Xinhua.
The suicide car bomb in Kabul on Sunday took place at 09:15 a.m. local time (0445GMT) along Hsamayi Road when a convoy of NATO-led Resolute Support (RS) forces was passing by the area, a witness Mohammad Najib told Xinhua.
"Two military vehicles, out of four-vehicle motorcade, were severely damaged by the blast. Several civilian vehicles were also damaged due to the bombing," the witness said. Meantime, an advisor to Afghan Public Health Ministry, Qamarudin Sediqi, in talks with reporters confirmed that seven injured persons who sustained injuries due to the suicide car bomb in Kabul on Sunday morning, have been admitted to hospitals here.
However, Zabihullah Mujahid who claims to speak for the Taliban outfit, in contact with media has claimed that a Taliban suicide bomber detonated his explosive-borne car next to the convoy of foreign forces in Kabul inflicted huge casualties, besides destroying two armored vehicles. The claim was spurned by Kabul police chief as groundless.
