The four Chinese workers wounded in a traffic accident Tuesday night in Algeria are receiving medical treatment and in stable condition, their employer, China's Groupement CITIC-CRCC told Xinhua on Thursday.

A shuttle bus carrying 10 Chinese workers on their way home was hit by a concrete mixer truck on Tuesday night in Sendjas, an area in Algeria's northwestern Chlef province.

Six workers were killed in the accident, while the other four were injured, including one who was in serious condition and three slightly injured.

The local police and medical personnel rushed to the site to provide first aid. The police is conducting investigation on the cause of the accident, and the result is expected to be released in one week.

The Chinese ambassador to Algeria Liu Yuhe expressed his consolation to the injured workers and demanded full treatment of the workers from the Algerian side.

The Groupement CITIC-CRCC, which is building up the East-West expressway for Algeria, has quite a number of Chinese workers.
