The participants of the conference shared their knowledge and insights on green economy and called for more international cooperation in green development.

Asia must achieve a balance between economy and nature as it has paid a high cost for its rapid growth, including eco-degradation and climate change. The region must shift its fossil-fuel-based economy to a green economy to reach its goal.

Yet, Asia still lacks sufficient laws and policies to support green development.

"Economic stimulus programs in Asian countries should include financial support for green technology and green industries, as Asia has no other choice but to develop an environmental friendly way for its sustainable growth,” said Jose de Venecia, the founding chairman and co-chairman of the Standing Committee of the ICAPP.

The ICAPP, though not a policymaker, can help Asian counties to form international partnerships and coordinate international efforts in green development, according to Chung Eui-yong, the co-chairman of the Standing Committee and secretary general of the ICAPP.

The two-day ICAPP Special Conference gathered more than 150 leaders, entrepreneurs and researchers from 57 parties of the 33 participating Asian countries.
