Artists from both China and Myanmar presented a stunning visual spectacle in Nay Pyi Daw, the capital city of Myanmar on Apr.2, 2014. This evening show was part of the grand cultural event Experience China in Myanmar, launched by China's State Council Information Office.

The first program of the evening gala was performed by Chinese dancers. The artists dressed in Sani ethnic costumes performed "Dance under the Moonlight." Its dynamic music and passionate dancing met with an enthusiastic response from the local audience. Chinese singer Zhang Yu sang the very famous "Live Alongside the Same River," which cites the time-honored friendship between China and Myanmar.

The puppet play, an art with more than 1,000 years of history, performed by the Myanmar artists, enjoyed great popularity among the kids inside the theater.

The show was highlighted by both countries' popular and classic flairs, including ethnic folk songs and dances, Myanmar puppeteering, Peking Opera, as well as Chinese Kungfu and acrobatics. The performances drew much applause from the audience, both old and young.

Than Eaw Win, a local government employee, told Ching.org.cn during the performance that he had enjoyed the Kungfu best among the night's performances as he particularly likes those China-made Kungfu movies starring Jacky Chan and Chow Yun-fat. He hopes to visit the Shaolin Temple when he visits China this July.

The show was staged by artists from Yunnan, the province closest to Myanmar in terms of location.

Since 1999, the Information office of the State Council of China has organized a series of cultural events across several countries, including Germany, France, Switzerland, the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Russia, South Korea, South Africa and Israel.

Named "Experience China," the events have all been well received overseas. They have become an established part of China's cultural exchange program and provide a way for foreign audiences to understand and experience China in their own countries.
