University officials received a report of a shooting at graduate dorm on Wednesday in Northwestern University's main campus in Evanston in U.S. state of Illinois, local media Chicago Tribune reported.

Northwestern University spokesman Alan Cubbage said they received a report of a shooting inside the Frank C. Engelhart graduate residence hall at Emerson Street and Maple Avenue. He told reporters that Evanston Police and Northwestern University police responded to the scene.

Northwestern police said in a tweet that there is no evidence of a victim or gunman found at the residence hall. They told people to stay away from the area of Emerson and Maple.
