An explosion ripped through a road in Jalalabad, an eastern town in Afghanistan, on Saturday, causing panic among the residents, witnesses said.
"We heard a huge blast in the Police District 3 of the city at around 11:30 a.m. local time. The incident occurred near a public health ministry's office and the whole place has now been sealed off," witness Matiullah Khan told Xinhua.
Several warning shots were also fired by the security forces following the sound of the blast, he added.
"The initial police findings showed that three persons were affected by Saturday's blast in Jalalabad. So far, we have no more details, but we will try to get more information and share with media the outcome of the ongoing investigation," said a police officer who declined to be named.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
Taliban militants and militants of the extremist Islamic State (IS) have presence in the province.
The city, 120 km east of Afghan capital of Kabul, has been hit by series of terror attacks over the past couple of years.
