Chinese vice president meets Lao foreign minister

Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan on Sunday met with visiting Lao Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith.


Wang said that China and Laos have similar national conditions, while the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) share similar understandings on several issues. With the brotherhood, the two countries share a socialist community of shared future.


"In the face of complicated international and regional situations, China will continue to firmly support Laos to follow the development path that is in line with its own national conditions," said Wang.


Wang said that China will work with Lao side to implement the important strategic consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, further learn from each other on the experiences of managing the party and the country, promote the synergy of the two countries' development plans, deepen pragmatic cooperation, implement cooperative documents in fields such as the Belt and Road Initiative, jointly safeguard regional peace, and continuously promote the Lancang-Mekong cooperation.


Saleumxay Kommasith said that the two countries are good comrades, good partners and good brothers. The Lao side will work with China to maintain the good tradition of conducting annual meeting of the top leaders of the two parties and the two countries, earnestly implement the important consensus of the two sides, and actively promote the construction of China-Laos community of shared future.


Later Sunday afternoon, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi also held talks with Saleumxay Kommasith.
