Chinese president receives credentials of 8 ambassadors

Chinese President Xi Jinping received the credentials presented by new ambassadors of seven countries and the European Union (EU) to China at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing Monday.

The ambassadors are John Andruga Duku from South Sudan, Isabel Domingos from Sao Tome and Principe, Briunny Garabito from the Dominican Republic, Manasa R. Tagicakibau from Fiji, Luis Schmidt from Chile, Clemens von Goetze from Germany, Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina from Sierra Leone, and Nicolas Chapuis from the European Union (EU).

Xi welcomed the ambassadors to China and expressed his sincere greetings and good wishes to the leaders and people of their countries and the EU.

Xi stressed that China attaches great importance to developing relations with the countries and regions, and is willing to further enhance political mutual trust, deepen pragmatic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, and strengthen coordination and cooperation in international affairs.

It is hoped that the envoys will play a role as a bridge to make positive contributions to enhancing China's friendship with the people of their countries or regions and promote mutually beneficial cooperation, said Xi.

The envoys conveyed cordial greetings from the leaders of their respective countries or institution to President Xi, saying that they are willing to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with China, and to promote the development of friendly relations between China and their respective countries or regions.

The envoys congratulated China on successfully hosting the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and spoke highly of Xi's keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the summit and the new initiatives for promoting China-Africa cooperation.
