The 35th ASEAN Social Security Association (ASSA) Board Meeting kicked off on Tuesday in Vietnam's central Khanh Hoa province, discussing opportunities and challenges posed by the fourth industrial revolution and the free movement of labor in Southeast Asia.
Addressing the three-day meeting, Nguyen Thi Minh, Vietnamese deputy minister of finance and general director of the Vietnam Social Security, said that amid the new revolution, ASSA should have creative approaches and long-term visions to bring into play its members' strengths in terms of experience and technology, and enhance linkages among them to ensure sustainable social security for all people in the ASEAN Community.
Some 170 delegates, mainly leaders of 20 social security institutions in all 10 ASEAN countries, attended the meeting which will adopt a joint statement on its goals and regional cooperation orientations in line with the ASEAN Community Vision 2025.
The Vietnam Social Security is scheduled to take over the rotating ASSA chairmanship from Thailand on Wednesday.
