Chinese medical team began on Thursday to provide free cataract surgery to 120 patients under "China-Myanmar Brightness Journey 2018" in Myanmar's Yangon.

The two-day free cataract surgery program is jointly conducted by medical team from China's Kunming Medical University and local medical team at Sitagu Shwe Pyi Hein Eye Hospital.

Sponsored by Second Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University, the program is organized by the Department of Commerce of China, Yunnan Province, Myanmar's Sitagu Shwe Pyi Hein Eye hospital and Visakha foundation.

Zhang Yuanping, leader of medical team of Kunming Medical University said that surgical experience and technical issues will also be exchanged between medical teams from both countries through this program, pledging to conduct more eye surgical treatment to Myanmar patients in future.

"Thanks to surgical treatment by Chinese medical team, my vision is getting better as clouded vision caused by cataracts made me difficult to read before and I am sure fraternal friendship between China and Myanmar can be promoted through this program," a 64-year-old cataract patient U Cho told Xinhua.

Chinese medical team also donated 3,000 U.S. dollars to Sitagu Shwe Pyi Hein Eye hospital to support the program.
