The Kremlin said Thursday it was "alarmed" by a report on possible manipulation of a drone attack against the Russian bases in Syria from a U.S. warplane.

"This is very alarming data, of course, and no one here should have any doubt that an appropriate analysis will be carried out by our military and appropriate conclusions will be made," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted by Russian media as saying.

He suggested that the military may have carried out such work before producing the accusations, adding that "only the military can give all the details in this case."

A U.S. Boeing P-8 Poseidon had assumed control of an attack carried out by 13 drones, said Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin earlier in the day.

Fomin did not specify the date of the attack, but in January, the Russian Defense Ministry said its servicemen had destroyed seven combat drones and grounded another six which had attempted to attack Russia's Hmeymim and Tartus military bases in Syria.

Peskov said he cannot rule out that the incident may be discussed at the forthcoming meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump preliminarily scheduled to take place in Paris on Nov. 11.
