Five people were confirmed dead and 10 others sustained injuries as a bomb blast targeted a mini-bus in the western edge of Kabul city on Monday, Kabul police spokesman Ferdaws Faramarz said.

The blast targeted a mini-bus carrying the employees of the Independent Commission for Administrative Reforms on Darul Aman road at 01:30 p.m. local time, leaving five persons dead and 10 others injured, Faramarz told reporters.

The Independent Commission for Administrative Reforms is a government body authorized to bring reforms to the government entities and institutions.

Faramarz, however, said that more details would be released after completion of investigation.

Meanwhile, eyewitnesses say that the casualties could be higher as the mini-bus caught fire after the blast.

However, Interior Ministry spokesman Nasrat Rahimi told reporters that a sticky bomb attached to the mini-bus went off, causing the casualties.

Subversive activities, mostly in the shape of suicide bombings, roadside bombs and sticky bomb blasts are in constant increase over the past couple of months in Afghanistan and only on Sunday two civilians were killed and 24 people were wounded in triple blasts in Afghan capital Kabul.

Taliban and the Islamic State (IS) group have claimed responsibilities for series of deadly bombings in Kabul over the past few days.

No group has claimed responsibility for Monday's blast in the fortified Kabul city where its residents are getting preparation to celebrate Eid al-Fitr to mark the end of Ramadan, the Muslim holy fasting month, probably on Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on moon sighting in Lunar calendar.
