An illegal tin mining has collapsed in Bangka Tengah regency, Indonesia's Bangka Belitung province, killing three miners, Indonesia National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) said on Wednesday.

The accident occurred on Tuesday noon, also leaving one miner injured and another missing, the statement said.

Efforts to search for another missing miner are facing problem due to bad weather, according to the ministry.

"Collapse of the illegal tin mining site was prompted by improper mining techniques applied by the miners, coupled by the rain around the area," Head of BNPB Information Department Rita Rosita said in a statement.

Provincial disaster mitigation agency has deployed personnel, assisted by police, troops and volunteers to search for the missing person. The search was paused on Wednesday afternoon due to heavy rain at the site, the statement said.
