China's top legislator Li Zhanshu Wednesday met with Liberia's President Pro Tempore of the Senate Albert Chie.

Li, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), said China appreciates Liberia's adherence to the one-China principle in the form of legislation.

The NPC will take the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries as guidance to provide legal support and guarantee to the implementation of the outcomes of the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, the Belt and Road construction, and pragmatic cooperation in various fields, said Li.

He called on the legislatures of both countries to intensify cooperation and enrich exchanges at different levels to contribute to the building of a closer China-Africa community with a shared future and the greater development of China-Liberia relations.

Chie said Liberia firmly adheres to the one-China principle and stands ready to work with the Chinese side to take the opportunity of the Belt and Road construction and fast growth of Africa-China cooperation to strengthen exchanges between legislatures and cooperation in various fields.
