A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 hit Turkey's southwestern province of Denizli on Thursday, but no casualties have been reported so far.

The tremor happened in the Bozkurt district at 2:25 p.m. local time (1125 GMT), the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority said in an announcement posted on its website.

Local authorities detected some damage in buildings but reported no casualties yet.

According to press reports, at least 100 houses were announced as inaccessible in the affected area.

Denizli is home to Pamukkale or Cotton Castle, a main Turkish tourist attraction known for its white travertine made up of natural calcified waterfalls and a series of terraced basins.

Earlier in the day, another earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 hit the neighboring province of Izmir.
