Israeli war jets struck Saturday evening on facilities that belong to militant groups in the Gaza Strip in response to earlier rockets firing, security sources and local media reports said.

The sources said that Israeli war jets attacked a lookout post in the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Lahia, while Israeli army artillery fired two shells at agricultural lands in the area. No injuries or damage were reported.

Earlier on Saturday evening, three rockets were fired from the coastal enclave into southern Israel, two of which were intercepted, and the third landed on a house yard causing severe damage to the house, according to Israeli media reports.

It is the second time in 24 hours that rockets have been fired from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel.

No one claimed responsibility, while Israel held Islamic Hamas movement, which rules the enclave, responsible for the rockets firing.

An Israeli army spokesman said in a press statement that Israeli air force fighters carried out two airstrikes on infrastructure facilities that belong to Hamas in northern and central Gaza Strip, in response to firing rockets into Israel.

Earlier on Saturday, Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said that the Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip "are a message of escalation and aggression."

Meanwhile, the Israeli media reported that an Israeli army force foiled an infiltration of five Palestinians, one of whom was armed, through the fence of the border between eastern Gaza Strip and Israel.

The Israeli media reports said that Israeli soldiers opened fire at the five men, but their fate is still unknown.
