Six Chinese police officers are heading to Serbia for a one-month joint patrol with their Serbian counterparts.

A ceremony was held in Beijing on Monday to send off the police officers from north China's Hebei Province who joined this operation on behalf of China's public security authorities.

The joint patrol, the first of its kind between the two countries, will be conducted in cities including Belgrade and Novi Sad.

The Chinese police officers belong to multiple departments of public security forces, including police service command, transportation management and criminal investigation. They have received a series of training courses to better prepare themselves for the patrol mission in Serbia.

Liao Jinrong, head of the international cooperation department with China's Ministry of Public Security, expressed his hope at the ceremony that the officers can strengthen communication and mutual trust with their Serbian counterparts, safeguard the security of Chinese citizens and enterprises in Serbia and make contributions to bilateral relations and people-to-people exchanges.
