The Chinese government always advocates dialogue and negotiation to peacefully settle the Democratic People's Republic of Korea's (DPRK) nuclear issue and the Iranian nuclear issue, and has made tireless efforts to this end, a Chinese delegate told the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) 63rd General Conference in Vienna on Monday.

"China is ready to work alongside all relevant parties towards the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula and the proper settlement of the Iranian issue so as to preserve the international non-proliferation regime and ensure regional peace and stability," said Zhang Jianhua, director of China's National Energy Administration.

The IAEA should strictly maintain professionalism, objectivity and fairness in its activities and continue to play a constructive role in addressing these hot issues, he said.

Zhang also emphasized that China takes nuclear safety and security very seriously. "The white paper titled 'Nuclear Safety in China', issued on September 3, 2019, elaborates on our basic principles and policies in nuclear safety as well as our good track record in these areas," he said.
