Officials from China and Jordan on Wednesday highlighted keenness to boost ties at all levels during a seminar in Amman which marked the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

At the seminar held by the Chinese Embassy and Jordan's Alrai Centre for Studies and Training, officials from both sides underlined the deep-rooted Jordanian-Chinese relations.

On ties with Jordan, Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Pan Weifang said diplomatic relations between the two countries date back to 1977, and the two countries have since regarded each other as close and trustworthy friends.

"China has become the third largest trade partner of Jordan and the second largest source of imports," Pan said.

He added that the 9th China-Arab States Cooperation Forum Ministerial Meeting will be held in Jordan next year while Jordan will participate in the second China International Imports Expo scheduled for November in Shanghai.

The Chinese ambassador also introduced the white book "China and the World in the New Era," published recently by the State Council Information Office of China.

Malek Twal, director for Asia and the Pacific of Jordan's Foreign Ministry, commended ties between the two countries, highlighting China's rapid growth over a short span of time and its comprehensive growth in all aspects.
