At least 22 people were killed and 21 others injured on Sunday in an overturned tourist bus in northwestern Tunisia, said a statement released by the Ministry of the Interior.
According to the statement, the accident occurred at the locality of Ain Snoussi in Beja province when a bus, belonging to a private travel agency, fell into a valley after crossing the iron barrier.
The 22 passengers, all Tunisian nationals, lost their lives immediately while the injured were urgently transferred to local hospitals for necessary care.
"The death toll is expected to rise, pending confirmation from the official authorities," said the ministry.
