Boy killed, 5 others injured in car crash in England

A 12-year-old boy was killed and five others were injured on Monday afternoon in a hit-and-run crash near a school in Essex in southeast England.

The crash took place at about 1520 GMT after a car mounted a pavement near Debden Park High School in Loughton, Essex.

After the accident, the boy was taken to hospital, where he later died.

Essex Police said it had launched a murder investigation.

Two 15-year-old boys, one 13-year-old boy, a 16-year-old girl and a 53-year-old woman were also hurt but their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, the police said.
