A tricolored bus in east China is offering moral support for Italy in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The bus turns heads with its red, white and green appearance - the colors of the Italian national flag - as it passes through the streets by the West Lake in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang Province.

The bus exterior features both Chinese and Italian elements. It has one of the most famous scenes of the West Lake, the "Three pools mirroring the moon," in addition to the painting of the Colosseum. Inside the vehicle, the handholds and the backs of the chairs are all covered by the expression "Cheer up, Italy" in both Chinese and Italian, as well as lines from the Italian opera Turandot.

The bus first hit the road on Chinese Valentines' Day in August last year, in a sign of celebration as Hangzhou and Italy's Verona became "sister cities." Both cities are known for their romantic, legendary stories.

Hangzhou is the place featured in the legends of the White Snake Lady and the Butterfly Lovers, while Verona offers the story of Romeo and Juliet. Interestingly, the China-Italy bus is pronounced "I like you" bus in Chinese.

The bus broadcasts in Chinese, English and Italian. It passes through many places of interest in Hangzhou and has become a must-visit for many couples. It has just recently changed its appearance amid the epidemic, conveying the Chinese people's wishes and encouragement to Italy.
