The Peruvian government on March 28 raised the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country to 671 and the number of fatalities to 16.

The largest number of cases in the country have been reported in the capital of Lima, with 518 confirmed cases, followed by Loreto, Piura, Callao, and other cities, all with much lower figures.

At a press conference, Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra said that so far 84 patients have been hospitalized in the country, 33 of whom are in the Intensive Care Unit, and of these, 30 are on ventilators.

On March 26, two patients succumbed to complications from the virus: a 50-year-old man in Lambayeque and a 66-year-old man in Lima.
