COVID-19 deaths surpass 14,000 in India, total cases 440,215

Deaths due to COVID-19 crossed the 14,000 mark, reaching 14,011, as the total cases reached 440,215 in India, said the latest data issued by the federal health ministry on Tuesday.
The ministry said 312 new deaths and 14,933 new cases were reported during the past 24 hours across the country, taking the number of deaths to 14,011 and total cases to 440,215.
On Monday morning the number of COVID-19 cases in the country was 425,282, and the death toll 13,699.
According to ministry officials, 248,190 people have been discharged from hospitals after showing improvement.
"The number of active cases in the country right now is 178,014," reads the information.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with chief ministers of all states via video conference on June 16 and 17 to chalk out the strategy to help the country come out of the coronavirus lockdown.
