Brazil's COVID-19 cases surpass 5.2M, with over 153,000 deaths

Brazil reported 30,914 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the national tally to 5,200,300, said the health ministry on Friday.

Another 754 people died from the disease during the same period of time, bringing the death toll to 153,214, according to the ministry.

Sao Paulo has registered 37,870 deaths and 1,057,240 cases, followed by Rio de Janeiro, with 19,654 deaths and 289,440 cases, said the ministry.

Brazil has the third largest caseload in the world, after the United States and India, and the second highest death toll from the disease, after the United States.
