Russia has nothing to do with the recent ransomware attack on a major U.S. fuel pipeline, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Tuesday.

"Accusations against us are unacceptable. We can only regret that the United States refuses to cooperate with us in countering cyber threats," Peskov told a daily briefing.

He noted that bilateral and international cooperation is essential in the fight against cybercrimes.

The Colonial Pipeline, the largest refined products pipeline in the United States, had to shut down operations after a cyberattack using ransomware was detected on Friday.

U.S. President Joe Biden said Monday that there was no evidence that Russia was involved in the attack, "although there's evidence that the actors' ransomware is in Russia."
