The Office of the Commissioner of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) said Friday that a fact sheet on U.S. interference in Hong Kong affairs released by the Chinese Foreign Ministry is a strong response to the U.S. bullying acts such as the so-called "Hong Kong Business Advisory" and its sanctions on officials of the central government in the HKSAR.

"It is a firm counterattack to the U.S. violation of the basic norms governing international relations, interference in Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs and attempts to damage Hong Kong's prosperity and stability over the years," a spokesperson of the office said, adding "it is also a strong warning to all external forces and anti-China and destabilizing forces in Hong Kong."

The fact sheet demonstrates China's ironclad determination, willpower and capability to defend national sovereignty, security and development interests, and to safeguard Hong Kong's prosperity and stability, the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson stressed that the list is a "criminal record" of the U.S. interfering in Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs and undermining Hong Kong's prosperity and stability since the 2019 chaos in Hong Kong.

The United States enacted Hong Kong-related Acts and vilified China's policy on Hong Kong; it imposed sanctions in an attempt to obstruct the implementation of the national security law in Hong Kong and relevant decisions of China's National People's Congress; and it leveled unfounded charges against HKSAR affairs and law enforcement actions taken by Hong Kong police in an attempt to undermine Hong Kong's prosperity and stability.

The United States shielded and supported those who are opposed to China and attempt to destabilize Hong Kong, provided platforms for them to advocate the so-called "Hong Kong independence" and spread political disinformation, and justified the acts of those lawbreakers by twisting facts and misleading the public. It colluded with some countries to exert pressure, and teamed up with allies to interfere in Hong Kong affairs and make irresponsible comments by such means as joint statements, the spokesperson added.

The spokesperson said the list has laid bare the malicious means and motives of the United States in interfering in Hong Kong affairs. "Facts have repeatedly shown that the United States is the chief culprit in undermining Hong Kong's prosperity and stability. The ironclad details in the fact sheet are irrefutable proof," the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson stated that the list is a "wake-up call" to external forces attempting to interfere in China's internal affairs and curb China's development.

The list makes it clear to the world that China's sovereignty, security and development interests shall not be challenged, China's resolve to fully and faithfully implement the principle of "one country, two systems" is beyond doubt, and Hong Kong's unity, harmony and stability shall not be undermined.

"Chinese people never give in to coercion, intimidation or pressure and we can see right through all the tricks to harm 'one country, two systems' and prosperity and stability of Hong Kong. No one shall underestimate the fortitude of the Chinese people to safeguard our national dignity and legitimate rights and interests," the spokesperson noted. "All moves to play the 'Hong Kong card' to contain China's development will prove to be in vain."

The spokesperson pointed out that with the implementation of the national security law in the HKSAR and the improvement of Hong Kong's electoral system, Hong Kong is on a new historical journey from chaos to stability, prosperity and sound governance.

"The trend of the times moves on like a mighty river. It is our choice to go along and prosper, or go against it and perish. The United States should abandon its outdated 'zero-sum' mentality and ditch its illusion of preventing Hong Kong from righting the wrongs," the spokesperson said.

"The Chinese side urges the U.S. side to earnestly respect China's internal affairs, abide by international law and the basic norms governing international relations, and immediately withdraw its 'black hand' for interfering in Hong Kong affairs, otherwise what it has done will only boomerang and be firmly counterattacked by all the Chinese people," the spokesperson said.
