Five people were injured in a chemical plant explosion on Monday night in southern U.S. state of Louisiana, local media outlet KPLC reported on Tuesday.
Five contract employees working the turnaround at Westlake Chemical were taken to a hospital for treatment, and three of them have been released from the hospital, said the report.
There are no reports of any deaths related to the incident.
The explosion happened around 11 p.m. local time at the plant's Petro Complex 2 Unit which is used in the production of ethylene, said the report. The unit was undergoing maintenance at the time of the explosion.
The plant's spokesman Joe Andrepont said that the explosion was a flash fire and that there was no sustained fire after the incident. An investigation to determine what caused the explosion is underway.
