Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi on Monday held a phone conversation with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron to discuss the Libyan issue and the ongoing preparations to host an international conference on Libya in Paris this month.

During the phone conversation, Macron appreciated Sisi's efforts to resolve the Libyan crisis, the Egyptian presidency said in a statement.

Macron also confirmed his country's keenness to continue intensive cooperation and coordination with Egypt on the Libyan issue.

For his part, Sisi reiterated Egypt's unwavering position on the issue as well as its current efforts to promote all means to resolve the crisis.

The two leaders agreed to support the ongoing political track, leading to holding the presidential elections scheduled to take place by the end of December.

They also stressed the need for all foreign forces to leave the Libyan territories and to curtail illegal foreign intervention that further fuels the crisis.

Meanwhile, the two leaders exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, especially the developments in Sudan, the statement added.
