The International Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee (IDCPC) held the fifth China-Africa Young Leaders Forum and China-Africa Thematic Briefing on the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China via video links, Nov. 24 and 25.

Song Tao, Minister of the IDCPC, delivered a keynote speech during the events. More than 200 young politicians and representatives of more than 50 political parties and organizations from over 40 countries in Africa, including Togo, Kenya and Senegal, took part in the forum and briefing.

The African delegation played an integral role in the events, which followed the conclusion of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the CPC, and before the convention of the Dakar meeting of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation

Yawa Djigbodi TSEGAN, President of the National Assembly of Togo, General Treasurer of the National Office of Unir, commended the CPC as it embarks on its second centenary journey, and shared his views on the opportunities and challenges facing young people in China and Africa. 

In his address, Raphael Tuju, General Secretary of Kenya's Jubilee Party, said that he completely agrees with the whole-process people's democracy General Secretary Xi Jinping proposed. 

He said that the concept provides a new path and unique perspective for African political parties to explore independent development, and he supports the common values of peace, development, fairness, justice, democracy and freedom that China put forward.

Abdou Karim FOFANA, Minister to the President of the Republic of Senegal in charge of monitoring the Emerging Senegal Plan, member of the political office of the Alliance for the Republic, recognized the CPC's recent centenary celebration and said that Senegal is honored to join the co-presidency of the FOCAC, and that the meeting held in Dakar is poised to inspire the development of young citizens in China and Africa. 

Crispiniano dos Santos, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) and 1st National Secretary of JMPLA, expressed his hope that China and Angola would advance ties between political parties and the two nations to benefit the two peoples.

Moussa Mara, former Prime Minister of Mali and Chairman of the Change Party, said via video that today's youth are the future of China-Africa relations.

Meanwhile, Peking University set up a parallel venue for the forum at its Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development. More than 30 African students engaged in discussions on topics set by the forum. Likewise, they extended their best wishes to the centenary anniversary of the CPC, and vowed to deepen their understanding of China as well as promote people-to-people exchanges between China and Africa. 

They said that Africa should heed the CPC's successful experience in developing its economy and society, and lauded the example China has set for African countries as they work to boost national development. 

They look forward to deepening the exchange of ideas between Chinese and African political parties, carrying forward China-Africa friendship, and jointly building an even closer China-Africa community with a shared future through the forum, which ultimately serves as an institutionalized platform for exchanges between Chinese and African youth.
