Chairman of Sudan's Transitional Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan on Friday issued a decision to form a committee for war crimes, human rights violations and practices of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the sovereign council said in a statement.
The committee consists of representatives of the Public Prosecutor, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, the Armed Forces, the Police, the General Intelligence Service, and the National Commission for Human Rights, according to the statement.
The tasks of the committee are to list all violations and crimes committed by the RSF since April 15.
The committee was also assigned to take all legal measures against the RSF leaders and members, within and outside the country, and anyone proves to be involved through participation, incitement, or assistance, the statement said.
On Thursday, the Public Prosecution in Sudan said in a statement that it was conducting extensive investigations into violations committed by the RSF against Sudanese since the outbreak of the war in mid-April.
It added that more than 500 reports of missing persons and over 20 reports of sexual assault had been registered.
Sudan has been witnessing deadly clashes between the Sudanese army and the RSF in Khartoum and other areas since April 15, resulting in over 3,000 deaths and more than 6,000 injuries, according to figures released by the Sudanese Health Ministry.
More than 3 million people have been forced into displacement, inside and outside the country, since the conflict broke out in Sudan, according to UN estimates.
