Wang Xiaohui, editor-in-chief of China.org.cn, and Luis Enrique González, president of Cuba's Prensa Latina, jointly signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Beijing on Friday, committing to carrying out active and pragmatic cooperation in the future.

The friendship between China and Cuba has a long history and is growing steadily. In order to further expand media cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, China.org.cn and Prensa Latina agreed to establish a cooperation framework and regular exchange mechanism to cooperate in areas including content sharing, joint product creation and talent training, to deepen exchanges and mutual learning, and to promote people-to-people connectivity.

Wang Xiaohui said that the mission of China.org.cn is to introduce the real China to the world, using new media and new technologies for international communication. He also affirmed his confidence that the signing of the cooperation agreement between the two sides is of great significance in promoting media and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

González, who was in Beijing for the just-concluded third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, noted that China.org.cn is well-versed in news coverage and new media product creation, making it a valuable Chinese partner for Prensa Latina to learn from. He expressed his hope that the two sides can actively carry out practical cooperation in joint reporting and production in the future, so as to present the real Cuba and China to the world.

Prensa Latina is Cuba's official state news agency. Founded in the Cuban capital of Havana in 1959, its news products reach more than 100 international news organizations, mainly in Latin American and Caribbean countries, as well as the United States and Spain.
