The White House has fired several National Security Council staffers, U.S. media reported Thursday.

The firings came after Laura Loomer, a far-right activist, urged President Donald Trump during a Wednesday meeting to get rid of several members of his National Security Council staff, "claiming that they are disloyal," CNN cited sources familiar with the move as saying.

According to the report, at least three officials have been fired.

Loomer's visit to the White House Oval Office was reported earlier by The New York Times, which quoted a U.S. official with direct knowledge of the matter as saying that Trump fired six National Security Council officials after the meeting.

"Ms. Loomer has been part of a group effort by some Trump allies to disparage members of the president's White House staff whom they consider too hawkish, too eager to commit American troops around the world," the The New York Times said.

Axios reported that a source familiar said several people had been fired, possibly as many as 10, including senior directors.
