Former U.S. President George W. Bush said here Friday that the upcoming U.S. presidential elections are "about the economy."

Bush made the remarks at a conference held in the Dominican Republic's capital of Santo Domingo by the Entrepreneurs' Organization (EO), which gathers more than 8,000 business owners from 35 countries and regions.

"These elections are about the economy," said Bush when asked about the upcoming elections next Tuesday, adding that the election debate should focus on the basic concerns of private sector growth and job creation.

He told reporters that most Americans already know who they're going to vote for.

"I can tell you that I'm not going to vote for that guy on Tuesday," said Bush, a Republican, referring to incumbent President Barack Obama, a Democrat.

Latest polls showed Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney are locked in dead heat.
