Xi clarifies China's position on Syria

Visiting Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping said in Washington Tuesday that China's position on Syria is aimed at safeguarding peace and stability in the Middle East and is in line with relevant international principles.

Xi made the remarks when he held talks on Tuesday morning at the White House with his U.S. counterpart, Joe Biden, according to a press release issued by the Chinese delegation.

During the talks, Xi expounded China's principled position on Syria.

China, he said, is willing to continue its constructive role in easing the tensions in Syria and in safeguarding peace and stability in the region.
