At least 160 Peruvians affected by the earthquake in Chile have returned home and another 90 could return to Peru soon, Peruvian ambassador to Chile Carlos Pareja said on Wednesday.

Pareja said that Peruvians were transported by two air force planes which were used to send humanitarian aid to Chile.

But not all affected Peruvians wanted to return to Peru, since some of them already have work and family in the country, according to Pareja.

The two coffins containing the remains of two Peruvian women who lost their lives during the quake were also transported back.

So far, the 8.8-magnitude earthquake has killed 799 people in Chile, left tens of thousands homeless and dealt heavy damage to its economy.
