4.9-degrees aftershock shakes Haiti

An earthquake measuring 4.9 degrees on Richter scale shook Haiti on Thursday, producing panic among the inhabitants and the suspension of the rescue works.

The U.S. Geology Institute said that the replica of the 7.3- degree earthquake that shook the country on Jan. 12 had its epicenter located 65 kilometers southwest to Port au Prince, Haiti's capital, with a depth of 10 kilometers.

The earthquake occurred on Thursday at 11:45 a.m. local time (1645 GMT), the U.S. Geology Institute said.

On Wednesday an earthquake measuring 5.9 degrees also shook Haiti at 11:00 a.m. local time (1600 GMT), which produced more injured, these replicas have caused the collapse of the few buildings that still stood after the earthquake of last week.
