The Chinese search and rescue team arrived at New Zealand's Auckland airport at 5:45 a.m. Friday morning, after a ten-hour flight.

They will take New Zealand air force craft to the South Island city of Christchurch, which was seriously hit by a 6.3-magnitude earthquake on Feb. 22.

At the request of New Zealand government, the Chinese government decided to send a 10-member team to join the international rescue efforts.

The team leader told media at the Auckland airport that all the team members are rescue specialists and they will do their best to rescue lives of whom trapped in the rubble.

The team is expected to arrive at Christchurch at 3:30 p.m. Friday, and will start working as soon as possible.

The death toll in Tuesday's devastating earthquake in Christchurch rose again on Friday to 113, while around 200 more still remain missing.
