China voices its support for the upcoming summit of BRIC countries scheduled to be held in June, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu told a routine press conference here on Tuesday.

The BRIC countries, namely Brazil, Russia, India and China, are all important emerging nations and driving forces for the world's common development, Ma said.

"They share the same or similar opinions on many international issues and all have the political desire for further cooperation and communication," said Ma.

Under the backdrop of international economic downturn, the four-nation group has pledged to work together for better global recognition during a recent pre-BRIC Summit preparatory meeting in New Delhi, India.

"In recent years, the four countries have exchanged views on world economic and developing issues of common concern through various channels," said Ma.

Ma also noted that the dialogue among the BRIC countries would be open and transparent.
