The new Miss Chinese Cosmos is an undergraduate majoring in legal English at Xi'an International Studies University.

Shanghai native Wang Qianqian and Jiang Nan from neighboring Jiangsu province were the first and second runners-up, respectively.

The winners were selected by a celebrity-heavy panel of judges that included Hong Kong actress Athena Chu and mainland actor Li Yapeng, as well as acclaimed mainland film director Feng Xiaogang and his Hong Kong counterpart Stanley Kwan.

Hong Kong Phoenix TV has held the beauty pageant annually since 2003. The contest aims to highlight intelligent Chinese women. It accepts applications from around the world, and finalists are selected from contests held globally.

One of this year's criteria was the contestants' involvement in charity work.
