A public welfare program combining revolutionary heritage and education with cutting-edge technology was launched at Beijing's National Speed Skating Oval, or the "Ice Ribbon," on Tuesday. It celebrates the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and commemorates the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Red Army's Long March.
The 2026 "Caring for Growth, Lighting Up Hope" public welfare program is guided by the Beijing Women's Federation, hosted by the Beijing Women & Children Development Foundation (BWCDF), and supported by the Beijing State-owned Assets Management (BSAM).
Speaking at the launch ceremony, a BWCDF representative said the BSAM has continuously fulfilled its social responsibilities and partnered with the foundation for seven consecutive years, all to build the "Caring for Growth, Lighting Up Hope" public welfare brand.
The initiative has benefited more than 30,000 children by providing diverse educational and practical learning opportunities, the representative said.
At the ceremony, the foundation presented a donation certificate to the BSAM in recognition of its long-term support for public welfare programs benefiting women and children.
This year's program integrates immersive revolutionary tradition, education and hands-on experiences through cutting-edge humanoid robotics. The aim is to inspire both patriotism and scientific curiosity among young participants.
Nearly 2,000 children and teenagers from across Beijing will be invited to visit the Museum of the Communist Party of China to learn about the Party's history, whilst gaining a deeper appreciation for the spirit of the Long March.
Those who attend will also visit the humanoid robot training and competition base at the Ice Ribbon, where they can watch top-level competitions from the World Humanoid Robot Games, and experience the latest advances in artificial intelligence up close. The activities are designed to encourage young people to pursue innovation, foster scientific thinking, and strengthen their sense of responsibility to contribute to the country's technological development.

Following the launch ceremony, 100 children from across Beijing took part in the program's activities, visiting the Museum of the Communist Party of China and the humanoid robot training and competition base.
The Ice Ribbon, which hosted speed skating events during the 2022 Winter Olympics, has continued to explore sustainable post-Games operations. As of today they host speed skating competitions, support professional athlete training, and offer public ice sports programs.
In recent years, the venue has also expanded its "sports + technology + culture" brand. Last August, it successfully hosted the inaugural World Humanoid Robot Games, further establishing itself as a platform for showcasing emerging technologies.
