Famous Chinese actor Wang Xuebing has been detained by police in Beijing for drug use, Beijing Evening News reported.

Wang was arrested at his home together with another actor whose identity has not yet been released, according to the report.

It is not clear if the actors were using drugs in Wang’s home when they were detained by the police.

Born in 1971 in Xinjiang, Wang is well-known throughout China. After graduating from the Central Academy of Drama, he starred in dozens of popular movies, TV shows and dramas such as "Cherish Our Love Forever," "Seven Swords" and "The Secret."

Wang became the latest celebrity to be arrested for drug offenses in China after Chinese singer Yin Xiangjie was given a seven-month jail sentence and a fine of 2,000 yuan (US$326) for illegal drug possession on Feb. 28.

In January, Jackie Chan's son Jaycee Chan was sentenced to six months in prison for drug offenses.

Celebrities arrested for the possession and use of drugs in 2014 also included mainland actor Gao Hu, writer and director Chen Wanning, director Zhang Yuan, singer Li Daimo and actor Zhang Mo, son of famous director and actor Zhang Guoli.
