Beijing opened a new Winter Olympics-themed library on World Book Day, April 23. The library was established by the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympics and Paralympics Winter Games.

The library, located at the Shougang Office Area of the organizing committee, has a large collection of books, periodicals and newspapers focusing on the Winter Olympics. The self-service library adopts a series of new technologies such as self-checkout and return, bar code scanning for book identification, remote monitoring, mobile library, audio books, and video books. In addition, the new library's catalog is backed up by systems of the National Library, the Capital Library and the Shijingshan Library.

Yan Cheng, deputy Party secretary and head of the human resources section of the organizing committee, said the library provides high quality, convenient and comfortable reading services to all staff of the committee. Moreover, after hosting the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, Beijing will see the library as a cultural heritage that can carry forward the Olympic spirit and spread the knowledge of the Winter Olympic Games.

Yan added that the library will add more books and literature on the Winter Olympic Games and the ice-snow industry. It will also build relationships with other Olympics-themed libraries at home and abroad, while promoting the co-construction and sharing of relevant digital resources.
