The closing ceremony of the 2018 Sino-foreign Audiovisual Translation & Dubbing Cooperation Workshop (SFATD) was held on June 17. Nearly 40 foreign film professionals from 31 countries took part in it.

By participating in the workshop activities, foreign film professionals held robust conversations with each other. The discussions between them not only helped them know more about each other, but also promoted the coverage of Chinese films. As a result, the deputy manager of Wings Media Tang Ping signed a contract with Al Greeny Savitri Dewayanti, chief business officer of Indonesia's Orange TV during the workshop. The documentary "Shanghai Memory" will be played on Indonesia's Orange TV, Channel Festivai 604.

In his speech during the closing ceremony, Counselor of the Communications Department of the Bureau for External Cultural Relations, Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China Li Zhi, expressed that by communicating with each other in the workshop, foreign film professionals can better discover the potential for Chinese and foreign film corporations in film and television translation, as well as the opportunities and challenges.

Alexander Alexiev, a professor of Chinese philosophy of the University of Sofia, Bulgaria, mentioned that the Chinese film market has developed rapidly, with a huge amount of representative Chinese films and high-quality documentaries produced in recent years. They serve as platforms for people around the world to know China and see the charm of Chinese culture.

The workshop was hosted by the Bureau for External Cultural Relations, Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China and the International Cooperation Department of the State Administration of Radio and Television from June 13 to June 17. It is the second workshop this year. The first was held in late April in Beijing.

Held annually since 2015, the SFATD workshop aims to strengthen communication and cooperation, encourage mutual appreciation of outstanding film and television products and enhance understanding and friendship between China and other countries.
