A museum devoted to the culture of China's Xibo ethnic group opened on Thursday in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province.

Covering an area of nearly 7,400 square meters, the museum is three stories tall, displaying more than 300 items highlighting Xibo's history, society, and culture.

The museum cost more than 72 million yuan (10.6 million U.S. dollars) to build.

"We hope the museum could fully display Xibo's spirits and splendid culture," said Liu Shumin, an official from the Shenbei New Area, one of the largest areas inhabited by the Xibo people in China.

The museum is open every day except Mondays and free to the public.
