More than 50 folk artists are headed to Poland, Russia and other countries along the Belt & Road for exchange programs with painting, calligraphy, dance, design, folk music and traditional handicrafts of China, as part of a Belt & Road cultural program recently initiated in Beijing's Songzhuang Town.
The cultural program is themed "China's Reform and Opening up for 40 Years" to promote Chinese traditional culture in foreign communities.
The cultural program consists of six scheduled activities, to be held in the main venue of the U.N. Vienna Office Hall and the sub-venues of Berlin China Cultural Center, the Van Gogh House in Zundert of the Netherlands, the 10th District Government Building in Paris, and the St. Urban Art Center in Switzerland.
The first exhibition will be at the University of Vistula, Poland, on Aug. 11. With the theme of "Memory of the Times," the exhibition will display paintings and intangible culture heritages of different historical periods in China, focusing on the achievements and changes in China's art during the past 40 years since China started to open its doors to the outside world.
The final show will bow at the Chinese Cultural Center in Moscow on Oct. 15. With the theme of "Love for China," the show will present traditional Chinese folk music, traditional Russian dance, and recitals of works by Chinese and Russian writers and poets.
Over a period of five years, the cultural program has sent about 100 folk artists to countries in Asia and Europe for cultural exchange activities, which has helped to promote Chinese traditional culture, enhance the cultural self-confidence of overseas Chinese, and promote intercultural communication and cooperation, a Songzhuang official said.
