The 32nd Macao International Music Festival kicked off here on Friday in China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), bringing a number of performances by musicians from around the world.

The theme of this year's festival was "Enjoy - The Moment in Music."

The opening performance was the opera L'Elisir d'Amorer, written by Italian composer Gaetano Donizetti. In addition, Austrian composer Anton Bruckner's Symphony No. 8 in C minor will be presented jointly by the Macao Orchestra and the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra in October.

Jamaican jazz pianist Monty Alexander will perform his trio. Brazilian cellist Antonio Meneses will present the public some classical pieces.

The festival will come to a close with two concerts by the Staatskapelle Dresden, one of the world's oldest orchestras, which will perform the complete cycle of Schumann's symphonies.
