Amid festive atmosphere full of excitement and joy, the Chinese Cultural Center in Cairo organized the final round of a Chinese songs competition.

Under the title "Egypt Sings", nearly 50 persons took part in the auditions, and only 12, including 11 Egyptians and one from North Korea, were qualified for the final stage of the competition in late hours of Saturday.

In front of large number of spectators, mostly not understanding the Chinese language, each of the 12 competitors sang a Chinese song at the Opera House in Cairo.

The judges committee, which was composed of seven persons including five Chinese and two Egyptians, hailed the fabulous performance of the singers.

Dimyana Tadrus and Mirna Taha ranked the first, winning a prize of ticket to Beijing for one-week cultural trip to visit China.

"My participation in the competition is something very big for me. I am so happy, and I will feel very proud of myself for that valuable prize," Tadrus, a 21-year-old Student in Language Faculty in Ain Shamas University, told Xinhua.

Tadrus knew about the competition from her friends who participated in the same competition in 2017. She sent an online application to the Chinese Cultural Center in Cairo, and then passed the audition stages.

"Those events bridge the Chinese and Egyptian cultural exchange," she said, adding that the Chinese culture is very close to the Egyptian one.

"I feel really happy about this, and so proud of myself. I worked hard, so I think I deserve this," said Taha.

"I miss China very much though I visited the country one month ago, and I am very excited to have the opportunity to travel to China again," she said .

The third place winner received a cash prize, souvenir and certificate.

The Egyptian Nile TV along with the Chinese Cultural Center contributed to organizing the competition that was run under the auspices of the Opera House and the Chinese-Egyptian Trade Center.

Fatma Abdel Qader, producer with Cultural Nile channel, hailed the event as" a tool for promoting the friendly ties between Egypt and China."

Thanks to the competition, the spectators listened and love many songs, and will later search for more to learn about Chinese traditions and habits, Abdel Qader said.

She added the large turnout of the public who came to see the final stage of the competition means the "Chinese culture is very welcomed by the Egyptian side."

After announcement of the prizes, the Chinese ambassador to Egypt Song Aiguo expressed his happiness, and congratulated the winners.

"Singing isn't easy, and singing in other languages is more difficult, but the contesters have exerted their best and sang in great way, which reminded me of my beloved country," Song said.
