Israelis celebrate Purim holiday on streets

Israel is celebrating all weekend the Jewish holiday Purim. On Friday, thousands of families with small children gathered at the Gan Meir Park in Tel Aviv.

During the holiday, which has started on Wednesday, the streets of all the cities became full of people wearing masks and costumes.

Tel Aviv marked the holiday with tens of public events where people came together to drink and dance.

On Friday, thousands of families with small children came to the Gan Meir Park in Tel Aviv to join the main event filled with art exhibits, acrobats, drag shows as well as food and drink stalls.

After the event ended, the park became a huge party zone and people danced while dressing in costumes of superheroes and other famous characters.

Purim is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the deliverance of the Jewish people from Haman's plot during the reign of the ancient Persian Empire, according to the Biblical Book of Esther.
