About seven percent of Chinese adults read more than 10 e-books each year, while 11.5 percent read more than 10 print books annually, according to a national reading report released Tuesday.

Chinese adults read 4.67 print books and 3.32 e-books per capita in 2018, up slightly from 4.66 and 3.12 in 2017, respectively.

Reading of press publications has declined. Chinese adults read 26.38 issues of newspapers per capita in 2018, down from 33.62 in 2017. The figure for reading magazines shrank from 3.81 to 2.61.

The survey, conducted by the Chinese Academy of Press and Publication from August to December 2018, had a sample size of 19,683 people from 29 provincial-level regions and is the 16th of its kind.
